John Riel Casimero never stopped training even during the extensive COVID-19 lockdown.
But now that Top Rank's Bob Arum has announced they will be staging closed-door fights starting June, the reigning WBO bantamweight champion understandably amped up his training in anticipation of his triple title unification bout against Japanese superstar Naoya "Monster" Inoue.
In a recent Facebook video, Casimero, who is staying in Las Vegas, was seen fine-tuning his power shots with the help of coach Nonoy Neri.
Casimero was supposed to fight Inoue on April 25 but the bout was temporarily shelved after the pandemic broke out.
Now that restrictions in the US will be eased, Sean Gibbons of MP Promotions, which handles Casimero, said they are working to stage the title unification bout sometime in July.
“I was told by Mr. (Akihiko) Honda that Inoue is coming and we’ll be fighting in Las Vegas,” sGibbons said in a previous report.
